Tarmac Planings
An aggregate produced by a cold milling machine. The machine is used to remove the surface layer of a tarmacked area such as highways or footpaths. The resulting waste is known as Tarmac Planings or Road Scalpings.
Varied in quality, the use of road planings is generally considered environmentally sound as Bitumen is a natural substance. Using them reduces pressure on Quarried stocks. More difficult now to obtain as a vast majority are returned to the quarry for re-use in producing new Tarmac.
Planings are unscreened unless otherwise stated & vary in content & quality.

All quarried aggregates will contain a certain amount of dust & residue caused by either digging or blasting. The Images we provide have more than likely been thoroughly washed to provide you with a true representation of the colour once laid. We recommend that all decorative aggregates are hosed down once laid to wash off any unwanted residue. All aggregates we supply are a natural product, naturally sourced, and we accept no liability for any variation in colour.
